Priority Hazardous Substance
A priority substance classified as toxic, persistent and liable to bio-accumulate — subject to emissions cessation within 20 years.
A subset of priority substances that are toxic, persistent and liable to bio-accumulate in the aquatic environment, or which give rise to an equivalent level of concern. For priority hazardous substances, Member States and the EU must implement measures to cease or phase out emissions, discharges and losses within 20 years of the substance being listed as priority hazardous.
